Growing from humble beginnings in 1985, the eventual line up of John White,
David McArthur, Michael Bonini, Derek Mullen and Ian McLachlan, gathered a cult following as
The Hardy Boys.
The band released the now legendary and rare 'Wonderful Lie' single on Stella
5 Records in 1989, before touring extensively in 1990, supporting the likes of River City People
and Babylon Zoo. In September that year, the Hardy Boys struck up a friendship with Bristols
Blue Aeroplanes through their manager Neville Street which would lead to the production of
the bands' second single 'Let the World Smother You' which was eventually released on
Glasgow's Egg Records in 2005, 15 years after it was recorded.
A 'Best Of' album entitled 'The Hardy Boys Play songs From The Lenin and
McCarthy Songbook' was compiled in 2005 following interest from fans around the world but
later shelved. Zzzing!!! Records are proud to announce that they will be releasing the
much sought after album this March.
